
GAURAV TEWARI
Gaurav Tewari possesses over two decades of experience leading well known venture capital firms, and has held operating leadership roles at blue-chip technology companies. Over his career he has invested in dozens of private companies, many of which have achieved successful IPO and M&A outcomes going on to become category leaders and creators.
Prior to Omega, Gaurav was Managing Director at Citicorp Ventures, leading the firm’s technology investing activities, and Principal of Highland Capital. He has held leadership positions within Corporate Strategy and Product Management at Microsoft, and in Engineering and R&D at IBM. With McKinsey & Company, he has advised management teams of Fortune 500 companies on strategy, organization, and innovation.
Gaurav graduated as Valedictorian (Ford Fellow) of the MBA program at the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the MIT Media Lab Software Agents group.
Gaurav serves as an Expert Advisor on Artificial Intelligence and AI Policy to the U.S. Department of State, where he furthers U.S. national interests by advising senior global leaders and governments on the strategic development, governance, and geopolitical implications of AI. He has invented 9 issued US patents and has authored original research papers relating to innovation and technology. Gaurav has been recognized for his contributions by a variety of organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Ford Foundation, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Computing Research Association (CRA), Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society), IBM Corporation, Microsoft, Omnicom Media Group, and the US Department of Homeland Security.
